Postdoctoral Researcher in Immuno-oncology Organ-on-chip Solutions, Switzerland (2-year contract)

In the frame of a partnering project between F. Hoffmann-La Roche in Basel and InSphero, you will contribute to advancing immune-competent organ-on-chip solutions to best support immuno-oncology drug development. Based on our scalable and flexible Akura™ technology and 3D InSight™ microtissue platforms, you will be developing industry-relevant applications for personalized drug development strategies in the oncology field. You will be working in a highly interdisciplinary group at the interface of bioengineering, 3D cell culture and advanced analytical methods and gain unique insights in industry-relevant assay development. Profile

  • PhD in Cell biology, Immunology or Oncology with deep knowledge in cell/tissue-based assays (especially in immuno-oncology) and basic know-how in advanced in-vitro assays (incl. microfluidics)
  • Minimum 2 years post-PhD experience
  • Solid scientific track record (incl. publications)
  • Laboratory experience in primary cell culture techniques, ideally 3D tissue culture, immune cell assays
  • Microscopy skills (especially confocal microscopy) and image processing
  • Basic knowledge in scripting (data analysis) and statistics
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, networker, team player
  • Professional English is a must, additional languages are a plus
  • Applicants must be either Swiss citizens, EU-nationals or have the legal right to live and work in Switzerland

Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth and business development activities including the initiation of partnerships within the Western Region. Main responsibilities

  • Responsible for territory growth, revenue targets and acquisition of new opportunities
  • Support InSphero in implementing market strategies, introduction of new solutions and technologies
  • Develop key account management and partnership-focused business strategies by securely navigating through various organizational levels and by collaborating with team members in the United States and Europe
  • Support the initiation of strategic alliances and drive development of partnership opportunities
  • Advanced usage of key accounting tools (e.g. Miller-Heimann & CRM database)
  • Recognize market trends and gain competitive intelligence
 

Profile

  • Deal making experience and customer focused personality with 3+ years business development experience
  • Deep understanding of the drug discovery and development process
  • Strong negotiation skills and excellent networker across all levels of customer organization
  • Independent, proactive and well-organized personality
  • Biology-related degree (MSc or PhD) with good understanding of cell biology/molecular biology – an additional business degree is a plus
  • Ideal location: San Diego or San Francisco

Partner Positions

Postdoctoral fellow on BIOMEP: Building a multi-tissue microfluidics system of metastatic potential, Netherlands 

In the frame of a partnering project between InSphero and the Erasmus University Medical Center (Rotterdam, Netherlands) you will be working on building a fully human-based 3D culture system that allows to study metastatic invasion of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) into different healthy microtissues. You will be part of the Department of Experimental Urology at Erasmus MC – a multi-disciplinary group of (molecular) cell biologists and clinicians, dedicated to perform highly innovative experimental research in the field of urological cancers, predominantly prostate and bladder cancer.
