Scientist Organ-on-a-Chip Solutions, Switzerland (100%)

Reporting to the Head of Technology and Platforms Group, you will be responsible for the design, development and execution of applications and related products and service solutions based on the Akura™ Flow Technology platform. The Akura™ Flow System allows to inter-connect different organ models and study systemic effects under perfusion. You will contribute to product and process patenting and act as a key point of contact for the Sales team to introduce and negotiate collaborations, service and product development projects with industry and academia. Main responsibilities

  • Design, management and execution of Organ-on-a-Chip related services and product development projects
  • Preparation, presentation and publication of scientific data
  • Participate in lab work for new product, application and service developments (approx. 30-40% lab-time)
  • Preparation of and application for patents
  • Support the team with scientific know-how to define and implement product positioning and innovation strategies
  • Promote and present InSphero at conferences and exhibitions
  • Support the expansion of InSphero’s product and service portfolio by providing scientific data required for launching new products, applications and services
  • Generation of new process related documents (e.g. TOPs, assay protocols)
  • Support the Sales team in introducing and negotiating new service projects and products

  • PhD in Cell biology, Bioengineering or Biotechnology with deep knowledge in cell/tissue-based assays (PBPK, metabolic diseases, oncology) and basic know-how in advanced in-vitro assays (incl. microfluidics)
  • Min. 2 years of experience in a postdoctoral research fellow position, preferably related to organ-on-a-chip/body-on-a-chip technology
  • Solid scientific track record (incl. publications)
  • Laboratory experience in cell culture techniques, ideally 3D microtissues
  • Microscopy skills and image processing (preferentially 3D)
  • Basic knowledge in scripting (data analysis) and statistics
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, networker, team player
  • Professional English is a must, additional languages are a plus

Main responsibilities

  • Journalizing and filing e.g. for the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable and fixed asset accounting
  • Ensure that all transactions are correctly reflected in the ledger
  • Responsible for financial closings (monthly, quarterly, annually)
  • Administering monthly account reconciliation processes on a timely basis and adhering to all corporate standards and guidelines
  • Supporting legal audits and generation of annual reports
  • Monitoring invoice and dunning process
