Laboratory Technician (100%)

Together with a team of dedicated Research Associates and Scientists, you will be responsible for the production of 3D InSightTM microtissues and cell culture media, the optical, biochemical and histological characterization of the microtissues as well as the execution of cell-based assays. You will also participate in the transfer of new technologies from R&D to the production unit and support Quality with QC releases. Main responsibilities

  • Routine production of 3D InSightTM microtissues and cell culture media for commercial sales and internal use following established SOPs
  • Microtissue characterization (optical, biochemical, histological)
  • Thorough documentation of production processes in manufacturing checklists
  • Execution of cell-based assays
  • Support of development and validation projects
  • General laboratory maintenance (lab cleaning, equipment monitoring, preparation of reagent aliquots, lab inventory, maintenance of master cell bank)
  • Support Quality with QC releases


  • Biology lab technician (technician degree)
  • Ability to work under aseptic conditions
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to perform biochemical assays and use technical equipment with accuracy
  • Experience in working according to standard operating procedures (ISO 9001 certification) is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Flexible with regards to working hours

Engineer «Advanced Cell Culture and Organ-on-Chip Technologies» (80%)

Reporting to the Head of Technology and Platforms Group, you will help us to take our 3D cell culture and organ-on-a-chip solutions to the next level. This includes engineering of scalable and flexible 3D in vitro platforms for drug efficacy and safety testing and their integration into standardized and automated operation and analysis workflows. Main Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize advanced microtissue culturing platforms
  • Technical implementation of standardized (automated) tissue-based assays and analyses
  • Design, manage and execute organ-on-a-chip related services and product development projects
  • Establish and optimize routine workflows for tissue assays in service and development projects
  • Participate in lab work for new product, application and service developments (approx. 30-40% lab-time)
  • Preparation, presentation and publication of scientific data
  • Promote and present InSphero at conferences and exhibitions
  • Preparation of and application for patents

  • MSc in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Bioengineering or Biotechnology (technical degree) with min. 5 years industry experience
  • Strong expertise in the field of automated cell culturing
  • Proven expertise in image and data analysis of cell- and tissue-based assays
  • Engineering expertise in developing industry-grade cell culturing systems including organ-on-a-chip devices
  • Basic programming skills
  • Basic knowledge in cell culture techniques, ideally 3D microtissues

  • Support InSphero in implementing market strategies, introduction of new solutions and technologies
  • Develop key account management and partnership-focused business strategies by securely navigating through various organizational levels and by collaborating with team members in the United States and Europe
  • Support the initiation of strategic alliances and drive development of partnership opportunities
  • Advanced usage of key accounting tools (e.g. Miller-Heimann & CRM database)
  • Recognize market trends and gain competitive intelligence


  • Deal making experience and customer focused personality with 3+ years business development experience
