Advancing diabetes disease modeling
Meet InSphero Advisory Board Member Dr. Patrick Guye at the Keystone Symposium on Diabetes: Innovations, Outcomes and Personalized Therapies. Patrick will be available throughout the meeting to discuss the latest advances in 3D in vitro models for studying type 1 and type 2 diabetes:
- 3D InSight™ Diabetes Discovery Platform
- Tools for studying β-cell proliferation
- Organ-on-a-chip applications for static and dynamic study of compound response in pancreatic β-cells
Standardized Islets for TD1 and TD2 Discovery

Thursday, March 7, 8–11 AM
Epigenomics of T2D Poster Session
Patrick will present the latest data produced using our 3D InSight™ Diabetes Discovery Platform, which is based on a highly standardized islet model produced by optimized dissociation and controlled scaffold-free reaggregation of primary islet cells. This process allows for precise control over newly forming islet microtissue size and eliminates contaminating exocrine materials while ensuring homogeneous, native-like distribution of endocrine cells within each tissue.
Patrick will provide an overview of how our islet microtissues are produced and characterized, and discuss applications, such as:
-
- Static and dynamic study of compound release
- Assessment of β-cell proliferation
- Highly efficient viral transduction
- Evaluation of cytokine and immune-cell-induced injury in Type 1 diabetes modeling
- Assessment of glucolipotoxicity in Type 2 diabetes modeling
