InSphero and Advanced BioMatrix signed a distribution agreement to expand the application range in 3D cell culture into scaffold-based models

Zurich, Switzerland – August 8, 2023

InSphero AG, the pioneer of 3D cell-based assay technology, today announced that the company is making their patented Akura™ Plate Technology available to researchers in the US market by signing a distribution agreement with Advanced BioMatrix, a leader in the life science of 3D applications for tissue culture, cell assay, bioprinting, and cell proliferation.

InSphero, a global pioneer in 3D cell culture and organ-on-chip technology, is known for its Akura™ Plate Formats, engineered specifically for 3D cultures of spheroids and organoids, simplify aggregation and handling of spheroids and organoids and facilitate the integration of 3D models into cell-based assay workflows providing researchers important advantages for their workflows.

“I am looking forward to expanding our range of applications for scientists and drug developers by combining ABM’s product range with the Akura™ Platform”, said Paul Clemencon, Head of Business Development of InSphero. "Combining ABM’s hydrogels with InSphero’s Akura™ Plates helps researchers working with scaffolds for their organoid and spheroid cultures to drive innovation in pre-clinical drug discovery."

“The goal of Advanced BioMatrix is to provide innovative 3D matrices for breakthrough research. By combining the Akura™ spheroid and organoid platform with ABM biomaterials and hydrogels, we continue to expand available solutions and workflows for our customers,” said Bowman Bagley, CEO of Advanced BioMatrix. The ABM hydrogels focus on recreating an in vivo environment for cells, and the Akura™ platform supports this mission.
