Research Associate - 3D Cell Culture (100%)

Starting date: as soon as possible | Place of work: Schlieren, Switzerland

In this role, you will be part of the Model Integration and Commercialization Group at InSphero. You will contribute to the development and implementation of innovative 3D cell culture-based solutions for the efficacy and safety assessment of drug candidates. The ideal candidate has broad experience in cell culture techniques and bioanalytical methods, and thrives in a client-focused environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic setting, developing and commercializing cutting-edge tools for drug discovery and toxicology.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Execute and support laboratory studies for customer projects using advanced 3D cell culture models
  • Contribute to internal R&D efforts, including protocol optimization and new model development
  • Perform routine cell culture tasks, including maintenance, treatments, and assay execution
  • Plan, execute and document experimental cell culture work
  • Present project updates and data summaries to internal stakeholders and clients
  • Support maintenance of laboratory infrastructure and equipment

Profile: 

  • BSc /MSc in a life science discipline (e.g., Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences), or certified Laboratory Technician with a focus on cell biology
  • At least 2 years of experience in an academic or industrial cell culture laboratory
  • Strong hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, bioassays (biochemical, cellular, immune-based), and microscopy
  • Experience with 3D cell culture systems such as spheroids or organoids is a strong plus
  • Independent, proactive, and resilient team player
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, experience with data analysis tools such as GraphPad Prism, R, or Python is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (German is a plus)

Sachbearbeiter Import/Export 80% (m/w/d)

Das Aufgabengebiet für den zukünftigen Stelleninhaber als Sachbearbeiter/in Export und Logistik bei InSphero liegt in der Unterstützung der täglichen Arbeiten im Bereich der Dokumentenerstellung, der Deklaration von Export Gütern, dem Vorbereiten und Verpacken von InSphero Produkten, sowie dem Betreuen der Schnittstellen zu den Frachtführern.

Aufgaben:

  • Eigenständige Planung und Abwicklung der Import- und Exportaufträge
  • Erstellung von Versand- und Exportdokumenten
  • Erstellung von Zolldeklarationen
  • Erstellung von speziellen Warenbegleitdokumenten für länderspezifische Behörden (z.B. USDA, CDC)
  • Verfolgung und Auswertung von Sendungen (Erfolgsraten, Kosten, Dauer)
  • Betreuen der Schnittstellen zu Frachtführern (Angebotseinholung und Prüfung, Buchung von Sendungen, Nachverfolgung und Problemlösungen)
  • Unterstützung des Teams bei administrativen Aufgaben und Optimierung von Prozessen
  • Bearbeitung von Rücksendungen von Leergut

Profil: 

  • Erfolgreich abgeschlossene kaufmännische Ausbildung
  • Weiterbildung im Bereich Export von Vorteil (z.B. Export-Sachbearbeiter/in)
  • Erste bzw. mehrjährige Erfahrung in der Luftfracht (Export)
  • Sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift

IT Infrastructure and Security Manager(80-100%)

Starting date: as soon as possible | Place of work: Schlieren, Switzerland

The IT Manager leads our IT infrastructure and supports operations. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical expertise and strategic planning to ensure a secure, efficient, and future-proof IT environment. The IT Manager will be responsible for overseeing internal IT systems, planning network structures, data management and storage solutions, and IT security, while coordinating with external service providers where necessary. The IT Manager also serves as Data Protection Officer.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage InSphero’s IT infrastructure, including networks, storage, and security systems.
  • Ensure smooth operation, reliable data access, maintenance, and support of Microsoft SharePoint and Windows-based IT environments.
  • Establish secure internal and external data sharing solutions
  • Plan, implement, and maintain IT security policies, access controls, and cybersecurity measures.
  • Develop and manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
  • Provide end-user support for hardware, software, and IT-related issues.
  • Handling incidents (data breaches, data leaks, security incidents).
  • On- and off-boarding of new staff members from an IT perspective.
  • Assess, plan, and optimize InSphero’s network architecture, ensuring scalability and security.
  • Develop and implement data management and storage concepts for large TB-scale imaging and RNA sequencing data in collaboration with scientific teams.
  • Evaluate cloud vs. on-premises storage options to balance cost, performance, and compliance needs.
  • Support the integration of Laboratory Information Management Systems
  • Identify and manage risks related to IT security and data protection.
  • Process owner for the protection of personal data.
  • Work closely with internal teams to understand IT needs and provide effective solutions.
  • Manage IT licenses.
  • Manage relationships with external IT service providers for specialized support, infrastructure management, and cybersecurity.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR) and industry best practices.

Profile: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT management, system administration, or a related role.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft SharePoint, Windows environments, and IT security.
  • Experience in planning and managing network infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, and access controls.
  • Knowledge of high-volume data storage solutions, particularly for large imaging and RNA sequencing datasets.
  • Experience working with external IT service providers and managing vendor contracts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus.

Vice President Operations (100%)

The VP Operations will oversee critical operational functions, including lab management, production of biological microtissues (BPU), production of Akuraâ„¢ plates (CPU), and export/logistics. This individual will be a key driver in improving internal processes, enhancing profitability, and ensuring the scalability and efficiency of our operations.

The role requires a strategic and hands-on leader with expertise in operational optimization, financial rigor, and process streamlining, ensuring seamless execution from Purchase Order (PO) to cash-in.

Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

  • Lead and manage cross-functional teams, including lab management, biological and Akura plate production, and logistics.
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-departmental leaders (R&D, Business Development, Finance) to align operations with overall business strategy.

Process Optimization and Streamlining

  • Evaluate and optimize the end-to-end PO-to-cash workflow to improve efficiency, reduce lead times, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Implement standardized tools, KPIs, and processes to measure and optimize operational performance.
  • Identify bottlenecks and develop actionable solutions to streamline production and supply chain processes.

Product and Solution Portfolio Optimization

  • Work closely with the VPs and/or Product Manager to refine and optimize InSphero’s product and service offerings.
  • Evaluate production costs, resource allocation, and scalability of current offerings to ensure maximum profitability and value for customers.
  • Contribute to new product introductions by supporting efficient process design and implementation.

Profitability and Cost Optimization

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust project calculation tools to ensure accurate cost estimations and pricing strategies.
  • Review project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals and resource capabilities.
  • Conduct post-execution analyses to assess project profitability and recommend measures for future cost improvements.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives across production and logistics.

Team and Leadership Development

  • Inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing teams within operations.
  • Drive collaboration and communication across departments to achieve shared objectives.
  • Attract and retain top talent to continuously strengthen InSphero’s operational capabilities.

Profile: 

  • MSc in Biology or other Life Sciences
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in operations leadership roles, preferably in the life sciences, biotech, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional operations teams.
  • Demonstrated success in process optimization and implementing cost-efficient operational improvements.
  • Strong understanding of project cost calculations, financial analysis, and budgeting processes.
  • Proficiency in implementing and using tools to analyze profitability, project execution, and operational efficiency.
  • Solid experience driving change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable, measurable outcomes.
